Early on in the COVID-19 vaccine push, vaccine rates inside U.S. prisons trailed those elsewhere. Then in late May, one of my expert sources told me she was seeing a surprising trend: In some states, inmate vaccine rates were surpassing those on the outside. In this piece, we explored why.
