More than 50 Dartmouth University graduates, doctors and donors have trusted me with their stories. Often, I have only 350 words to tell them. But these pieces become part of a family’s legacy, so I work to give each one individuality and depth.
To show readers why Beth Brown Limmer established a charitable gift annuity in her mother’s memory, I took them on a mountain highway the women had traveled for medical care during the illness that eventually took Janet Brown's life. I love the tension in Beth’s first journey alone and how the piece gently reveals their place, their bond and their relationship with the doctors who provided Janet's care.
